Hatley Castle | Hatley
Park in Greater Victoria is Canada’s largest and most diverse National Historic
site. At the centre of Hatley Park is a magnificent castle built in 1908 by former
British Columbia premier and coal baron, James Dunsmuir.
Authentic and beautifully preserved, this 565-acre Edwardian estate is nestled
on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, just 25 minutes from downtown Victoria.

or stroll through the heritage gardens; the Japanese Garden, the Italian Garden,
and the Rose Garden. At Hatley Park, amazing things happen!
Visitors can also participate in one of the many visitor programs, or enrol in
a garden workshop, attend a special seasonal event, or grab a bite to eat at the
Habitat Cafe while visiting Hatley Park National Historic Site.
The intimate setting and gracious hospitality at Hatley Park is ideal for weddings,
meetings, retreats, conferences, corporate team building events, motion picture
filming, or special events. Hatley Park also hosts the annual Hatley Castle 8K
race for runners in February.
Located just 25 minutes from downtown Victoria, in the Westshore community of
Colwood, a world of exciting activities awaits you at Hatley Park. As you arrive
in the municipality of Colwood, Hatley Park is located at 2005 Sooke Road, on
the Island Highway. Look for an elegant rock wall that defines the estate, and
a large black sign indicating “Royal Roads University and Hatley Park National
Historic Site.” Turn on to the property and travel due west towards the water's

Hatley Garden Self Exploration is open daily from 10am
to 4pm, and Guided Walking Estate Tours are available on a pre-booked basis
for groups larger than 10 guests. Shoulder Season runs from October 1 to April
