Chase and Warren
Estate Winery in Port Alberni is situated on a southwest-facing
slope that lends itself admirably to the growing of grapes, along
with strikingly beautiful views of the mountains and the Alberni
Valley. Chase Warren is the first winery in Port Alberni, with the
first vines planted in 1996.
Chase and Warren
wines include Beaufort Blush, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot
Gris, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. They plan to have a minimum
of 25 acres of pinot noir, pinot gris, muscat, bacchus, gamay noir
and Gewurztraminer when the development is completed.
Due to present
limits in production, the winery does not offer their wines outside
of British Columbia. Those wishing to savour the wines of Chase
and Warren Estate Winery will have to come to Vancouver or Vancouver
Island, where they are sold in restaurants and liquor stores.
Chase and Warren
Estate Winery offers wine tours of their estate. Catch the Steam
Train that runs on Fridays from the train station or the mill to
visit the only Vancouver Island winery visited by a train! The Alberni
Pacific Railway stops at the winery at the request of anyone on
their way to or from the McLean’s Mill National Historic site. You
will need to buy a ticket at the steam train office and request
a stop at the winery.
